Who am I?
Hello! I’m Fara and I am a lifestyle blogger.I write for people suffering from depression and anxiety, or who are just going through a hard time in their life. I want to help people stop "surviving" and instead have a life filled with peace, balance, and beauty.
What I Believe
- I believe that even if you live with a mental illness (or anything other illness/disability), it does not mean you cannot have a great life.
- I believe in balance. Too much of anything is a bad thing! When our lives are off-balance, we begin to suffer. Bring our lives back into balance will lead to peace and fulfillment.
- I believe that good mental health is a journey. I have by no means "arrived". Instead, I want to take this journey with you.
What I'm Not
- A licensed professional. Please, please, please! see a trained mental health professional if you believe you are suffering from depression, anxiety, or other mental illness; or if you feel you may hurt yourself or others.
- Someone who has it "all together." If I did, I wouldn't be trying so hard to learn the keys to good mental health!
A Piece of My Story
I have dealt with major depression for 10+ years, starting around my later teens. I also struggle with anxiety.I have always half jokingly called myself a "functioning-depressive", because I do not fit what most people would think of as a severely depressed person. In college, I was so depressed I often felt like I couldn't go on another day. And yet, I managed to make mostly A's, work part-time, intern, take care of my daughter, and maintain a social life; the key word in that sentence being maintain.
More recently, and what made me decide to start this blog, was the feeling that I couldn't stand to be miserable any longer. I read a wonderful book called Women Who Love Too Much. I realized, through the book, that I was avoiding dealing with the pain and problems in my life. I decided to work on myself.
This blog is about the work that I have done and that I am doing. My hope is that you will join with me to work towards better mental health and a more balanced life. I look forward to taking this journey with you!
